Pathways to College
Pathways to College is an early college program held in the summer that is designed by the School of Education and Social Work and Mount Pleasant High School’s (Providence, RI) Teacher Academy. The program provides direct college experience to rising high school juniors and seniors who take for-credit coursework and learn about the campus and resources available to students.
Throughout the program’s five weeks, students have the opportunity to learn from college faculty, eat lunch in a campus cafeteria, interact with other college students, and get a taste of the academic and social environment that awaits them in higher education.
Most of the students’ day is dedicated to academics, including courses focused on writing for college success, developing college skills, and an education course that is intended to help them discover their identity as an educator or professional.
