Dr. Yune Kim Tran

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the School of Education and Social Work (SESW) at Providence College. As dean, I am honored to serve in a school deeply committed to our Catholic Dominican tradition of seeking truth and fostering a spirit of service. Our academic programs are grounded in the liberal arts to emphasize ethical practice, social justice, and a deep respect for human dignity.

SESW is special because we embrace compassionate and intellectual pedagogical practices to enhance opportunities for individuals and communities through teaching, research, and outreach. Our team of faculty and professional staff work tirelessly to support students’ varied interests and diverse needs. We value experiential learning, community partnerships, and interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring that our graduates are well-prepared to meet the challenges of today’s world. Collectively, as a community, we collaborate to create a supportive structure and are driven by a growth mindset for our students as they achieve their academic and career endeavors in becoming teachers, educators, social workers, school leaders, counselors, or scholars.

Our social work programs prepare students to advocate for vulnerable populations, promote social change, and provide effective, evidence-based services.
